After the successful launch of the Vespa Scooter in 1946, the aeronautical engineer Corradino D’Ascanio, was chosen to design a vehicle to fill a gap in the post-war utility vehicle sector, a small displacement scooter, with low fuel consumption and an affordable purchase and maintenance price, easy to drive, maneuver in the heaviest city traffic, with the strength to transport products in the countryside. This is how the Ape range of commercial vehicles was born in 1948.

With a history of over 70 years, Ape has evolved through the years, preserving its own unmistakable personality, without losing sight of its origins, overcoming the typical functional benefits of the product to become an icon of Italian customs and culture.
